Very recently, we had the unexpected happened to us; a water leak from a toilet that caused a flood.

Luckily for us I was home, but by the time I realized what was happening, the damage was already done.

Our Insurance Broker was notified and within minutes, we received a call from “Tri Star Recovery Inc.” advising us that they would be sending the Emergency Clean up Team very shortly. Not only did we receive an initial phone call, but they also called us when they were close by to provide reassurance.

Needless to say, the wonderful and collegial work begun. They handled the situation with such professionalism: furniture and other household items were carefully moved with great sensitivity and without incident, they were immensely kind, and kept us informed all the way.

We were left with about 25 or more fans throughout the house running for 3 to 5 days ensuring that all wet areas got dried out properly. Our questions and concerns were met and answered to our satisfaction. None of this would have been possible without the incredible work of a great Team Leader Konstantino Zaraliakos. The two men who were the first to response on the job are examples of excellence in the job they do, we would also like to mention Kalvin who also took the time to reassure us and answer any nagging questions.

In January 2014 I experienced a flood in my home and everything had to be completely torn out. During this difficult time I was very dissatisfied with the options provided to me for contractors to complete the rebuild of my home and the time frame given to complete the work was too long.

My insurance company Wawanesa then passed my file on to Tri-Star Disaster Recovery Inc. and they contacted me immediately to schedule a meeting with me at my home. Konstantino and Kalvin made me feel very comfortable with Tri-Star completing the rebuild on my home moving forward.

Within a few days of meeting with Tri-Star, they had their rebuild crew at my home to begin the work. I left to go on vacation for a few weeks and when I came back I could not believe how much work was done and that my house was almost ready for me to move back in.

On July 8, 2013 my mother’s basement was flooded during a severe rain storm, along with thousands of other homes in the GTA. We immediately contacted Wawanesa, her insurance company, but because of the overwhelming number of claims it took some time to have the work completed.

Tri-Star Disaster Recovery Inc. was called in some time after the mishap occurred by my insurance company to complete a second opinion estimate.

Once my mother’s insurance company approved their estimate, Tri-Star was in touch with me almost immediately to start the rebuild process.

Their knowledgeable and compassionate staff were there to answer any questions or address any concerns I had throughout the entire process. They got us through a stressful and frustrating time and for that I am truly grateful.

This letter is to advise you about the wonderful service and support that was received from Tristar and the Tristar team.  From when I first met with your Customer Service Representative Kalvin Addley to your on-site work staff such as Peter Oliveria and Albert Tobias.

In the first week of July 2013 we had a flood occur at the above address, I could tell you numerous stories about the lack of customer care from the first time we contacted our insurance provider, however, I will focus on how things changed when I finally met with Tristar.  I met with Kalvin and Theo sometime in late August or early September to have them provide a quote to our insurance provider for the repairs that were needed to our basement from the flood, right from the very start both Kalvin and Theo impressed me by being both polite, knowledgeable and professional in how they conducted themselves.  Kalvin, you took the extra step of contacting our insurance adjuster to make sure my home was cleaned properly even though Tristar had not been awarded the repairs at the time.  Your actions speak volumes of the type of people that work for Tristar.  It wasn’t however until the end of October that we finally were given the go ahead to start the repair of the basement.

I remember when I first got the call from you on October 25th,   Konstantino, informing me that you had received approval from the insurance company and requesting that we do a walkthrough with your vice-president right away.  When we met we reviewed the work that was to be done and I informed you of my wife Mickeys’ health issues and some of my concerns regarding how the work that was to be done would affect her.  Both you and Don showed me how your team would contain the areas and prevent contamination to the upstairs to the best of your abilities.  You gave me your card and told me to contact you directly if I had any issues or concerns.  The times that I did call you, you responded right away and resolved any issues regardless of how major or minor they were.  For that I thank you.

Heroes are defined as normal people doing extraordinary things.  My heroes are the men such as Peter Oliveria and Albert Tobias that came to the house and went above and beyond what they were required to do, ensuring that the jobs were done right and short cuts not taken and always willing to go the extra step.  They worked very late every day and always had a smile and kind words for us. They made my wife feel comfortable in an uncomfortable and stressful situation. We appreciated the way our home was left at the end of every day – lights off and cleaned.  But the most important thing to me was that there were many days where I had to take my wife to appointments and not once did I have a concern about leaving Peter or Albert alone in the house.  I would recommend your team to anyone who is in need of rebuilding their home or homes based on that value alone.

Last but not the least; a thank you should also go out to Rochelle, office manager, and the other office staff we dealt with, Charlene and Maggie. You all kept us updated daily and were always quick to respond to any calls or emails.   You always followed up and followed through.

I know this letter is a little long and I have gone into great detail, but the reason for that is I want to give Tristar the same respect and attention to detail that they have given to me when it came to dealing with my issues and concerns.  The reason I have written to you is I realized that the service I received from you and your staff wasn’t an exception to the rule but the way your company is about what they do and provide to all your customers.

I truly believe that any one can sell a car, fix a house or provide a service, but what will keep a customer is follow up, follow through and quality customer service and because I know the QUALITY people that they employ at Tristar and what it means to be part of a place where doing the right thing is a way of life not an exception to the rule I will always be available to provide kind words or answer any questions that any of your future customers may have.

In closing, I expected a high level of service from Tristar and I can honestly say that I was quite surprised that I truly received more than what I expected.  Thank you all again for taking such great care of us in our time of need. He was a kind and patient man whose priority was to make sure the job was done right and his clients were happy with the finished outcome! Even when I was willing to have him cut some corners on the job which would have made his life easier he still insisted on doing the job correctly and finishing it properly even though it would extend the length of the job and his effort! My family and I would again like to thank you, Kalvin and your dedicated crew for a job well done in regards to the full cleaning and disinfecting of our home after the July 8th sewer back up that many of us here in Toronto experienced.

After our insurance company’s appointed restoration company totally dropped the ball and further cross-contaminated our entire house with E. Coli, your company was the only one who had the answers, and reacted with a full crew of restoration specialists to properly disinfect our entire house.

Upon the initial consultation/inspection, Kalvin was very prompt and eager to answer any questions we had and got a quote back to us within days of his visit. His quote and scope fully touched upon everything the hygienist put in his report without Kalvin ever seeing it. Other companies we had come out to quote missed many things in the report even though we had given them copies. So from the start we knew we were in good hands.

When time came for your restoration crew to begin work, they got to work right away and were very thorough in their attack. They spent a full 4 days thoroughly cleaning our house to ensure it was fully decontaminated. However, because the first restoration had left our house without at all addressing the E. Coli, the strain was quite virulent and your crew made sure to come back for another full day to thoroughly clean the entire house again to ensure the house was fully disinfected. We are now 100% E. Coli free and so happy that we had your company assist us in this stressful time.

Furthermore, we would like to thank you again for your offer to lend us an air scrubber. After you personally visited our home after the completion of the cleaning, you offered to loan us an air scrubber after you saw some peeling paint from our cinder block cellar. You suggested to have it running while scraping off the paint because it may have mould behind it. That was a very generous thing to do and we appreciated you going above and beyond your scope of work.

It is without hesitation that our family would recommend your company to anyone in need of a superb disaster restoration company.

I would like to state that I am very impressed with this company and the people within it.

A few days after meeting with Konstantino and Don for the first time, I called Konstantino as we had a flood in one of our Ottawa properties. He was very quick in responding to this situation. Within a very short time Tri Star had someone on site and working to rectify the problems.

Don was very quick to travel to Ottawa to ensure the work was being carried out to specification and timely. He stayed with the crews until everything was satisfactory. Don kept me updated without me having to call and request updates. Tri Star ensured that the proper equipment, trained knowledgeable personnel, and as little inconvenience to our residents was met. From the initial call to the rectification of the situation was very quick and professionally taken care of by Tri Star.

Tri Star’s system of drying versus replacing saved us costly repairs and a lot of inconvenience to the residents as they did not have to vacate their suites. We saved approximately 50-60 thousand dollars as a result of the drying system that they do. I do not hesitate to recommend Tri Star to anyone that is in need of this type of operation.

I had an unfortunate basement toilet bowl flood recently and called TriStar Disaster Recovery Inc. for an emergency visit. The person who answered my call was professional and efficient. She had a team dispatched to my house within 2 hours of the flood.

Kalvin and his team were prompt, careful, knowledgeable and courteous. The flood resulted in the removal of all carpet, baseboards, and some drywall. The team was so clean and careful with this removal that no dust or debris was left anywhere in my home. It was as if the flood didn’t happen.

TriStar is known by my insurance company which resulted in a cooperative effort by both companies – easing the stress of a claim.

I will be using TriStar for the rebuilding of my basement and would highly recommend the company to any of my contacts.
